Just Add it to the Calendar

The majority of society interacts with some form of social media at least once a day. During our first social media class, Dr. Aggie made us look up our social media usage. I am quite embarrassed to say I use social media over 2 hours a day. That is 14 hours a week, 56 hours a month and 672 hours a year. How do social media managers or influencers survive their careers?

Chapter 3 teaches us how effective social media calendars and schedules help in maintaining a strong personal brand. Content calendars include important dates such as holidays or promotions so content can be created accordingly. In addition, content calendars can help plan when videos, blogs, and brand deals are going to be posted. Most content creators are dealing with a wide variety of apps to push their company content to viewers. I cannot imagine how overwhelming this can become, especially when social media managers are focusing on other factors such as content quality, shares, public response and impact for the company. Now some people may think it is easy to sit back and post content all day long, but how long is it before a person is burnt out from this regimen? There is an immense are pressure to produce quality content consistently. If creators fail, the media slams them and cancel culture comes swooping right in. Companies have been known to lose entire followings off one post that was misunderstood by viewers. The rebound back from this can be even harder on companies and their employees.

Content creation is a new, intriguing piece of the business world today. It allows for businesses to interact with the public in a cost-effective and easy way. On the flip side, it has made for an even larger, tedious workload. Companies must stay dedicated to their content calendars to ensure continued growth and success. If they chose to ignore a schedule, viewers are not guaranteed to see the companies' posts, which ultimately leads to declines. Are you a calendar person or would you rather let luck determine your social media success?
